A melancholic number from Ouseppachan. Originally rendered flawlessly by Yesudas and Chitra in their own versions, this one is an audacious attempt.

B'Day thoughts

Someone has said it better..
The Passing Years
Life passes by so fast, Lord,
I know I'm sure to miss
A vital part unless you keep
Reminding me of this.
There's so much that I want to do,
A lot I've left undone,
So many plans discarded,
And a few I've not begun.

Life passes by so fast, Lord,
How often I've been told,
It always does around the time
That we are growing old.
For everything a season
Is wise as well as just,
But I had rather wear me out,
Than fall apart with rust.
Life passes by so fast, Lord,
The days, the months, the years,
Lord keep a smile upon my lips,
And blot away the tears.
Teach me to lean upon Your arm,
When pain and sickness strike,
To tell the facts from fancies,
That sometimes look alike.

Life passes by so fast, Lord,
And yet how kind You are,
In granting me the precious years,
That I have had so far.
So let the days grow shorter,
The darkest shadows part,
But put the wrinkles on my face,
...And never on my heart

Find the man!

Locate a man's face in the picture of coffee beans above.

Researchers have concluded that if you find the man in 3 seconds then the right half of your brain is better developed than most people.

If you find the man between 3 seconds and 1 minute, then the right half of your brain is developed normally.

If you find the man between 1 minute and 3 minutes, then the right half of your brain is functioning slowly and you need to eat more protein.

If you have not found the man even after 3 minutes, the right half of your brain is a mess, and the only advice is to look more for these types of exercises to make that part of the brain stronger.

The man really is there. In fact, once you find him, you cannot miss him afterwards.. Let me know :)

Amazing Photographs!

1.5 Giga Pixel photograph !!! The photographer who did a 720 megapixel photo of Sydney by night earlier this year has now done a 1500 megapixel photo of Machu Picchu. The level of details is amazing - even the expressions on people's faces as you zoom in!

While on that theme, this one on the left was sent to me some time ago. This is a National Geographic photograph of camels in the desert taken from directly above the animals at the time of the sunset. If you look carefully, you can see that the white specs are the camels and what you see prominently are their shadows!

A rather grim warning to the smokers!

On the right is actually an on-the-ceiling poster in the smoking room of an IT firm in Mumbai. But the 2 guys don't seem to have got the message :)

Blenheim Palace

I have been lying low for a couple of months and not making any "pleasure trips" after the one to Southampton, Salisbury and Stonehenge. The weather was also growing cold. Meanwhile, I ran into an old colleague of mine at Reading station (railway, not police mind you!). We had worked together in Soft Systems, Kochi and I was surprised to see him here, of all the places. It also turned out that he had been in Bangalore all along, working for HCL and we never ran into each other there. He is here on an assignment for 2 months. When we met, I only remembered that he had a rather curious name, but couldn't recollect what it was. It was Binju (that being his name) who suggested that we go to Blenheim Palace last weekend, and off we went on Saturday, 4th November.

Blenheim Palace is in Woodstock, near Oxford. In reward for his services in defending Holland and Austria from invasion by the French, a grateful Queen Anne granted to John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough, the Royal Manor of Woodstock and signified that she would build him, at her own expense, a house to be called Blenheim. Conceived in 1705 by Sir John Vanbrugh and finished in 1722, it is a masterpiece in English Baroque architecture. Set in 2100 acres of landscaped parkland, the palace is surrounded by sweeping lawns and formal gardens. As in most of the palaces of England, the State Rooms of this one too are graced with priceless portraits, exquisite porcelain and magnificent tapestries plundered from conquered lands. Many items have been "gifted" and some specially commissioned by the Dukes. Nothing much from India though, as it was still not a "jewel in the British Crown" when the earlier dukes of Marlborough went about warring on behalf of The Crown. The palace is also famed as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. The 11th Duke of Marlborough currently lives here. The palace and park was created a World Heritage Site in 1987. As it grows dark here too soon these days, we could not go over the palace grounds entirely. You can see my entire Blenheim Album in Galleria.

This post is delayed as the server hosting the Galleria was down for maintenance. Also, the Southampton/Stonehenge album is indefinitely delayed as the photos are locked up in my camera which is now with Saritha.

Customer service- Mallu style!

Enjoy this hilarious clip !

First, a little background: An English guy rented a DVD from a mallu shop in Gulf. Apparently, there was some problem with the DVD and he called the shop to complain. Now listen to the clip to see how the mallu from Kasargod handles the client.

Enjoy the phone call of the year…

Halloween Dogs

They say winter is not quite in..but owing to some depression, the temperature is going to be near freezing (2*C) tonight. Already had a taste of what was coming when I went out for a stroll.

But these dogs seem to have had a great time yesterday.
